ABOUT US

Mama Shamsa Foundation (MASHFO) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Somalia, which focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods and landscapes for the small-scale marginal farmers in Somalia.

This is done by working with farmers on food security, environmental protection and stable income improvement through training and information dissemination to equip farmers with knowledge and skills in organic farming, especially organic and biodynamic farming, conducting on-farm trials on best practices and donations of agricultural equipment.

MASHFO also digs wells and repairs to address the problems of marginalized farmers. In addition, we work closely with organizations and individuals conducting research to generate verified knowledge that can be used to develop modern agriculture and sustainability in Somalia.

MASHFO’S VISION STATEMENT

MASHFO envisions independent marginal farming communities that fully participate in the sustainable economic, environmental and social well-being of Somalia.
